Over-framing the roof at our passive house project with @firstlamparchitects — refining ridge lines, adding architectural detail, and wrapping the envelope in Gutex Multitherm to significantly improve thermal performance and efficiency.

ᴇɴɢɪɴᴇᴇʀᴇᴅ ꜰᴏʀ ᴛʜᴇ ᴇʟᴇᴍᴇɴᴛꜱ

Due to the home’s proximity to the open water along the Strait of San Juan, wind-driven rain made the south porch unusable for much of the year.
To transform the space into a true year-round living area, we undertook a structural upgrade—removing the existing wood superstructure and introducing a steel moment frame. Engineered to withstand coastal wind loads, this system provides the strength and rigidity required for expansive openings and full-height glazing.
With the new structure in place, the porch will be enclosed with floor-to-ceiling @kolbewindows — bringing in natural light, expansive views, and comfort through shifting coastal conditions. A high-performance building envelope ensures long-term durability without compromising the view.
